A moon with a possible ocean? CORBEVAX and Machines that Capture CO2.

Here are some new science topics I happened to have read about this weekend.

A moon with an ocean? Scientists suspect that Saturn's innermost moon (Mimas) might have a hidden ocean under the surface. A NASA probe picked up an odd wobble in the moon's rotation and an ocean might be the cause of it. This moon is also known as the "Death Star Moon" for obvious reasons. Perhaps we need a rover to go land there and start digging.

CORBEVAX: A new possible Covid Vaccine. It's somewhat different than the mRNA vaccines we have now. Pfizer and Moderna give our immune systems instructions on how to produce the spike protein. While COBEVAX delivers the spike protein. Like the other vaccines, it also requires two doses. It's said to be faster, cheaper and easier to produce. Could this be what we need to keep up with the evolving Covid virus? Last summer, I thought we were turning the corner. We had the vaccine. It seemed to be working. Cases were down. However, it's pretty clear it might not be going away any time soon.

Machines that scrub carbon dioxide out of the air and turn it into a form of energy that can be used. Then the CO2 would end up back in the air. When I first heard this, I thought "What about Trees?" Shouldn't we be planting more trees? However, this is different in that it captures the CO2 and converts it into energy. I still am a bit skeptical though because these machines require some sort of fuel to run. Yet, that fuel might be solar or wind power. If you want to know more, check out this video.

  1. That's no moon...oh wait it totally is a moon! They're probably already planning a way to get a closer look at that and anywhere else they think might have water because it's so important for any eventual manned missions out that way.
