I recently purchased an HD amplified antenna to see what the reception would be like. The amplified part of it is important because I live at least 40 to 60 miles away from the various TV stations. Also due to the design of the living room, I'm not able to put the antenna in the window. I would have to move the TV in front of a large window and keep the blinds closed. The window faces west, so the sun comes in strong in the afternoon and especially evening.
Even though I don't have the ideal set up for this antenna, it still works great. I can get all of the local channels. However, there were a few times channel 4 had some minor glitching. It seems to happen when it's windy out. Something else I discovered is that the local channels have a bunch of sub-channels. For example, there is channel 2. Then channel 2-2, 2-3 and so on. These sub-channels are kind of like Pluto channels. Like old movies, game shows, home shopping, etc. As for the picture, it's in HD and just as good when streaming.
I'm happy with the antenna because I don't need Sling anymore. There were only a few shows that I was even watching on Sling. Most of the channels didn't interest me. Now I can use the money for a premium streaming channel such as HBO Max, Netflix, etc.

Meanwhile in woods, I'm still working on my big clean-up project. This last week I got the feeling that it would never be done. Also, the time change isn't helping. By the time I get done cooking dinner, the sun is already setting. I only managed to get out there once during the week. Saturday, I managed to get more done before it started raining/snowing. Sunday, I had enough wood to light another fire. Pretty sure this is going to be the last one of the season. The wind was blowing strong here. To some extent, I like making the fire, but I get full of smoke and smell like an ash tray by the time I get back in the house. Also, smoke gets in my eyes and that really burns.
I can still saw branches and hall wood to a pile further away. However, if we get snow I will probably be done for the year. I will just use the time to do more writing, of course.
I haven't had a lot of luck with those digital antennas in my apartment. It might be that I don't have a window or anything facing the right way or it might be that it's too hilly.
ReplyDeleteThose digital stations can be pretty good sometimes. In 2009-2010 when I didn't have cable I watched THIS (Ch 4-2) a lot. On my cable at least they have those channels but they're like 290-299 but with streaming I don't use them as much.
