So far on Star Trek Picard Season 2.

I’m several episodes into Season 2 and I’m not sure what is going on, but I do know a lot is going on. First of all, the Borg came and were about to take over a bunch of federation ships. Picard started a self-destruct on his ship so it wouldn’t be captured by the Borg. However, Q intervened, and changed the timeline. In this timeline (and I’m not entirely sure what it’s supposed to be) it’s kind of like the mirror world, but not quite that brutal. It has a sort of military look too with a dash of Nazi. A world where they want “only humans” in the “confederation.” To sum it up, Picard’s present world has turned ugly.

To be honest, I’m not really enjoying it. It’s like a convoluted jumble of things. Picard, Raffi, Seven of Nine, Alison, Elnor and Santiago go back in time. They use the Borg Queen to go back to 2024 to fix something that happened in order to save the future from that ugly world.

Then they have other characters from Season One, playing different characters in this season. For example, Brent Spiner (Data) is playing a human “mad scientist” desperate to cure his sick daughter who was Soji in Season 1. I found it confusing, and I wondered why is Data now a human in the past? I only randomly came across something that said they are playing different characters. Yet, it’s so weird. I guess they are trying to satisfy all fans by having their fan favorites in this show. I wonder who else is going to show up, like maybe Worf.

I do know one thing. Time Travel has to be one of the trickiest things for a writer to get right. It can cause plot holes and bring up all kinds of questions. You’re safer staying away from it.

As for Q, the reason he did all this is still a mystery. Will we ever find out?

Anyway, because of so much going on I just haven’t been able to enjoy it yet. I hope it all comes together soon.

  1. When I heard about the time travel thing to the present, I decided I wouldn't watch. It's so cheap and lazy. And I didn't really like season 1 either.
