T = Trip Advisor.

Trip Advisor is a site where you can write reviews of hotels, restaurants, attractions, and just about anything trip related. I discovered this site through a writer friend who wrote some reviews for it. Next thing you know, I wrote a review just for the fun of it. Trip Advisor has a way of making you want to write reviews. I find it all very clever because they are getting people to add content to their site for free. I get these little emails that I earned a contributor badge or some other badge. Then my rating goes up. They also let me know how many people have read my reviews. One time they said I was in the top 25% of reviewers in my county. But the main reason I write reviews is because I want to support a worthy place or warn others about a disaster.

I was on vacation recently and used the site a lot to check out the reviews of various hotels. I also discovered that you can book flights or hotels through the site. They feature the best hotels, destinations, etc on their front page.

Amazon could take a few tips from them if they want to generate more reviews. While Trip Advisor doesn’t actually give you anything, they give you these little kudos that make one feel pretty good about leaving a review.

I've checked out the site before although I haven't left any reviews.

The only thing I know about Trip Advisor is that people have used it to bully small hotels/B&Bs for some strange reason of their own. I have looked at it before, relating to my home town because their are reviews of really funny things!

I didn't really use it when I was on the road, though I probably should have.

When I travel, I'll have to remember to use this site. :)

Hmm...I didn't know that, but generally economy hotels do tend to have lower ratings.

I have started using reviews to decide on a place to eat or stay. I don't always agree with the reviewer (especially if I know the place), but the reviews have helped me avoid some really bad spots.
