A dream about a hotel designed like a tree.

I had a fun dream recently. If only I had the money to build something like this. I dreamed I was staying in a large hotel designed to look like an enormous tree. It had elevators and stairs, but it also had slides that you could take to the bottom. Sounds expensive, doesn’t it?

Then I went further with the idea. I thought what if it was also an indoor water park. What if you could take the slides from each floor all the way to one of the pools. I told my kids about it. My son added an even more clever idea. Have the slide be in the hotel rooms, so you don’t even have to leave your room to get to the pool. I would think slides could only be in certain rooms with combination locks. You have to think of toddlers, of course.
The difficult thing about water parks is that you have to climb so many stairs all the time. I would have elevators that would take you up fast to the slide.

Last summer, I went to the Kalhari indoor water park/resort with the kids and then Cedar Point in Ohio. It was so hot inside the water park. Especially at the top of the stairs. I almost melted.

Will I ever get to the top of this in finish another novel?

Then I started to wonder about the tallest tree in the world. I didn't find any one tree mentioned as the tallest, but some of the tallest ones are twice the size of the Statue of Liberty. I also came across something about the oldest "individual" tree in the world. To my surprise, it was named Prometheus and was cut down just to find out it's age of 4862 years. I was stunned that someone would cut down a tree that old. Anyway...that's a lot of rings.

That is sad they'd cut it down!

Wow. I wonder why they couldn't just take a core sample and then count the rings that way and then fill it up with cement or something that would keep the bugs out. That seems a shame that they cut it down to count the rings.

They do need a better way of determining age in a tree.

So no thoughts about the tree hotel? I had such a good time in it (in my dream, of course).

Sounds like you've been watching too much Avatar :)

Seriously, though, that is a cool idea!

I love trees... Muir woods just outside of San Francisco has the tallest trees in the world, I think. They aren't as thick as the giant sequoias you show here, but they are a tad taller.

Those giant sequoias are more impressive to look at though. I've seen them both and found that the girth of the the latter trees more than makes up for being just a tad shorter.

Your dream sounds interesting.

If you say tree hotel then it sounds something strange but i like the concept very much as it is one of the part of the green environment.
