The Lucky 7 Meme

I insisted Michael Offutt tag me just so I would have something to blog about. LoL...

Since I have to now tag 7 others here are the rules for your convenience.

Go to page 77 of your current Manuscript.

2. Go to line 7.
3. Copy down the next 7 lines - sentences or paragraphs - and post them as they're written. No cheating.
4. Tag 7 authors.
5. Let them know.

Okay...going to find the 7 lines on page 77....

Well, I went to Vallar 2, but I can't use it. Too much of a spoiler in that one.

So this from Vallar 1. In this scene Ian Connors has been through a big battle and is wounded at an aid station. He found a com during the battle and he just now has the chance to look through the messages.

I slipped the com out, clutched it to my chest and rolled onto my side. I scrolled through the messages on the small screen. Most of them were from Kayla. Her last name “Merceir” sounded familiar.

This is Lieutenant Merceir. I’m an assistant diplomat for Gentech.

I held my breath. The one on the radio was Kayla. I held the com to my chest, and my heart pounded beneath my hand.

We have tried numerous times to discuss peace with your leaders, but they refuse to answer our messages.

Now for the tagging....

Chrystalla Thoma

J.A. Beard

CherylAnne Ham

S.E. Lane

Elizabeth Varadan

Roland Yeomans

Jay Noel

So how easy is this meme? It's like six sentence Sunday, except for the tagging part, of course.

Good excerpt.
And dodged the tagging bullet again.

Seven lines from Vallar 2 is too much of a spoiler?

Oh and did you go and see John Carter? It's all about Mars.

It's kind of amazing to see how many of these 7-lines things are actually critical or interesting moments of the book. Speaks well of a writer that a random spot in a book is actually exciting. I haven't read "Vallar" yet (it's on the list) but the fact that a random excerpt seems okay suggests it's worth moving up.

My verification words: "snREBI rehoiges," which would make a good name for a sci-fi character, I think.

Thanks for tagging me. I'm sorry that I can't do anything about that for a few posts, because I'm in the middle of a series of posts about my recent trip to India. But I think it's quite an interesting exercise, and your excerpt was intriguing.

Alex, I thought of tagging you, but I know your busy...however all this mention of dodging bullets makes me want to tag you next time.

Christine, I will be sure to have a look.

Mike, I guess I am rather secretive sometimes. I hope to see John Carter this weekend.

Briane, Thanks!

Elizabeth, don't worry one will notice. ;)

I know that scene. Good stuff.

I also got tagged, but as usual, I might just break the rules. It's really hard to pick a few people from 700+ followers.

I like your teaser. :-)
